Some while ago I blogged on the importance of addressing foreign languages for organic listings. We have started a campaign to hotspot one of our areas in Italian and German. This is Comersee (German) and Lago di Como (Italian) on Lake Como. Our current offering discovercomo receives a substantial amount of traffic each year from English visitors split according to the following percentages, shown on Google Analytics (10 day traffic).
We are very aware that the region receives a much higher proportion of German visitors and they are not well represented on the net by ourselves. In addition, Lake Como is a native holiday destination, if only for short breaks. We have therefore created two sites, one for Germany, “Comersee” and started integrating the Italian translation into our main site to see the difference in acceptance and traffic.
